Work Your Strategies

Wellness concepts are very simple, but are far from easy. In order to be well, we must eat, move and think well. Which is easy enough to say, but it can be a challenge to implicate. Americans are busier now than they have ever been. The on-the-go lifestyle is not very conducive to the wellness lifestyle. This does not mean it is impossible though. With some good strategies, even the busiest people can add wellness to their lives.

Eating well on the run can be one of the most difficult challenges. With a small cooler and even cooler planning, you can increase your vegetable and fruit intake substantially. Cut up your vegetables at home and pack yourself a cooler. It is very important to have good dietary choices readily available to increase your odds of success. When hunger strikes, the most convenient food becomes the criteria by which your food choice is made.

Moving well is also challenging this time of year, as the weather is quite unpredictable and frequently downright miserable. Invest in some tools of the trade. Decent quality raingear can be found locally for a reasonable price. Your health is important, important enough not to let the rain stand in the way. In the event you can't make it out, you can make use of a step to do step ups and a floor is usually available to do some push-ups or sit-ups. Instead of just walking, maybe throw in some skipping or hopping. Just about any activity can be made more intense with some imagination.

Thinking well is always a hurdle to overcome. The holiday season brings with it added stressors and a financial recession on top of it isn't helping either. Pay close attention to your self-talk, negativity creeps in and can wreak havoc on your system. One of my favorite strategies to implement is a gratitude list to review each and every day.

Don't worry about getting it perfect right out of the gate. Focus on making consistently better choices.
